Bunge La Mwanainchi has petitioned the county government to reopen Uhuru Park which was closed for renovations by the now-defunct Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) three years ago.

The call to Governor Johnson Sakaja aligns with similar demands from city residents seeking access to the popular recreational facility where they have been denied entry despite the completion of renovations.

Before its closure in 2021, Uhuru Park served as a relaxation spot for Kenyans and tourists, offering a tranquil environment for families and lovers.

Despite the park’s revitalization with new features, the public remains barred from enjoying the space yet the county has utilized Uhuru Park for events, such as the recent Nairobi Festivals held from December 12 to 17, 2023.
